Chodpa Training

The Month-Long Chodpa Training is an optional extension of the Dzogchen Chod retreat, for those who want to fully integrate the practices into their lives. This will take place online.

The 4-day Chod Retreat is a prerequisite. Those who have missed the 4-day live retreat can still take the Chodpa Training by registering for and taking the retreat post hoc and synchronously with this training.

This month-long chodpa training will take place from June 9th-June 29th, 9am-12:30, M-F.

It will include:

  • Philosophical Foundations of Chod
  • Chod’s relationship to Vajrayana Buddhism and non-dual wisdom
  • Understanding emptiness through engaging with fictive bad self and fictive good self within Chod meditation

  • Theories of one’s demons as manifestations of one’s own mind
  • Working with outer obstacles through Chod
  • Setting the boundaries of the Chod practice and in application of Chod in one’s life
  • Deity yoga of black Vajrayogini, Troma Nagmo
  • Phowa, Consciousness Transference at the time of death
  • How to use the Damaru drum and bell (drilbu)
  • Symbolism of the Damaru druma and bell
  • How to properly select the drum and bell
  • How to care for and decorate the chod drum and bell
  • Jigme Lingpa’s instructions on how to decorate and store the druma and bell
  • The multiple types of Chod drums and ideal for intensive practice
  • How to do the Chod dances to mark the beginning of a Chod retreat
  • The symbolism and different types of Kangling, how to use it
  • The ritual melodies of the Dzogchen nyingthig lineage
