What is (and is not) a Source of Ultimate Refuge

In this lesson Khandro La uses today’s more potentially challenging passage as a means for highlighting the difficulties of studying, and interpreting Vajrayana texts. The central question raised is: how do we meet the friction of difference that arises between our own experiences, beliefs and cultural bias and the traditional pedagogy of Tibetan Buddhism?

Other topics covered in this lesson include:
-What is the Ultimate source of Refuge
-The importance of somatic and experiential knowledge beyond concepts
-The limitation of human relationships and environment as Refuge
-What the term “worldly” refers to, and why from the Buddhist perspective we cannot take Refuge in worldly gods
